Smart River Dancer

Smart Little Lena x Miss Rebecca Boon (Boon Bar)

Meet River, our 2000 AQHA Dun Stallion.

During the pandemic summer of 2020, Cody made a flying trip to a dispersal sale in the Natural State to the east. What he found in the tree-lined-river-bottom of west central Arkansas were rain clouds, wonderful scenery, and some of the most beautiful, well-bred horses the state had to offer.

His plan was to come back with the direct offspring of the legendary cutting horse Smart Little Lena ... and that’s just what he did. Although we found him a little thinner than ideal from running on his 20+ broodmare band, River’s impressive performance record, iconic pedigree and color drew us in. When the hammer dropped, he became an Okie and reignited Cody’s long-time passion for breeding horses.

With a little reluctance from Stacy, we started gathering up a few mares to breed him to and are really excited to use this fella’ as the cornerstone to Cody’s dream of raising good-minded, sharp-looking, athletic horses for our family to enjoy for years to come.

Progeny Success

Whitney DeSalvo, and her mare, Becky (sired by Smart River Dancer).

“…Whitney DeSalvo of Wilmar, Arkansas, hammered 11 of 12 steers on the second hop in the Charlie 1 Horse All-Girl in Guthrie, Oklahoma – and if her mare, Becky, hadn’t bucked on the first one, she’d surely have batted a thousand.”
